Never Summer Wilderness Trip (190).JPG

I like to combine Adventure in the outdoors with Photography of the outdoors. Come along as I set out with a backpack, some photography gear, and view the world through my lens!

BACKPACKING:

My first adventurous love was the backpack and the trail. Putting a few miles between myself and the nearest car horn is high on my list of “Things To Do.” I often found myself coming back from a trip and needing something other than my words, and the smallest camera I could pack, to help me tell the stories of my adventures; hence my interest in Landscape Photography. My interest in the outdoors and backpacking also led me to an observation: it seemed that today’s youth are not “outside” as much as when I was their age. With that, I decided to begin a children’s book series aimed at getting youth interested in the outdoor adventures that I both loved as a child and love now. This project has, unfortunately, taken a bit of a backseat to my landscape photography, but I fully intend to see it through. More information on this book series can be found on my backpacking page here: www.JourneysOfTheCrew.com

PHOTOGRAPHY:

My desire to become a landscape photographer was born out of a love for the outdoors and telling the stories of the adventures I had. The problem was, and as I alluded to earlier, I had a hard time telling those stories using words only, so I grabbed a camera and began learning. I will say that I have learned a lot. Much of this is very apparent when looking back at images I took early on in my earlier photography adventures. I was so proud of them then. Heck, I am still proud of them now. Yet, I look at them and often cringe. “What was I thinking!?” I often find myself asking this question in my thoughts. Each time I ask that, I am reminded of how far I’ve come. Each time I take pictures with other photographers, I am reminded of how far I still have to go. Always learning. I hope that I never feel I know it all.

CURRENT SITUATION:

I find myself nestled in the small town of Monument, Colorado. It is a quiet little town just outside of Colorado Springs. It is a base camp for my photography.

THE FUTURE:

I’ve got quite a few photography-based trips planned in the future. Many of these trips are local, and everyone is welcome to attend. When available, they will be listed and can be signed up for via my Group Photography Outings page. The outings can, at times, have little notice as they may be based on local weather/environmental conditions. Others are not local and will often be exploratory in nature and meant to gather data for use in my up-and-coming Landscape Photography Courses and Sessions. Information on both of these adventures, as well as the Courses/Sessions, will be released via my Mailing List down below.

About The Mailing List: It is NOT my intent to spam you with emails. I hate spam as much or more than you do. I think I sent maybe two emails last year. I hope to send closer to one per month. There are zero sales pitches in the emails. They are meant to provide an early glimpse into what I’ve got going on before news of any of it is posted to social media. They can be signed up for below. Unsubscribe at any time.
