Habitat: It is found naturally in plains, montane zones, and disturbed areas, but is widely cultivated on irrigated agricultural land. It generally fails at higher subalpine elevations

Medicago sativa, commonly known as alfalfa (/ælˈfælfə/) in North America[4] and lucerne (/lˈsɜːrn/) in the United Kingdom, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand,[5][6] is a perennial flowering plant in the legume family, Fabaceae.
