Full Moonset/Sunrise Photography Workshop

Overview:

Join me for an enchanting photography experience that celebrates the mystical beauty of the moon. Whether you’re a seasoned photographer or a beginner, this workshop promises inspiration, hands-on learning, and unforgettable moments.

Key Details:

  1. Skill Levels: All skill levels are welcome! Whether you’re a curious beginner or an advanced photographer, I will tailor the content to meet your needs.

  2. Location: We’ll immerse ourselves in a picturesque setting, carefully chosen to maximize the moonrise’s magic. Picture yourself behind your camera, peering across the open plains, or perched atop a hill with unobstructed views.

  3. Hands-On Learning:

    • Camera Techniques: Learn how to capture the moon’s delicate glow. Understand exposure settings, focus techniques, and composition principles.

    • Timing and Planning: Discover the best times to photograph the moon. I will share tips on scouting locations and predicting celestial events.

    • Creative Composition: Experiment with foreground elements, silhouettes, and framing. Create images that evoke wonder and emotion.

    • Post-Processing: We will explore basic editing techniques to enhance your moon shots.

  4. Equipment:

    • Bring your camera (any type works!) and a sturdy tripod.

    • A wide-angle or a telephoto lens is ideal for capturing the moon against the landscape. I use a telephoto 95% of the time.

    • Don’t forget spare batteries and memory cards!

Workshop Atmosphere:

Expect to be roadside on a gravel road. There may be some mud from recent snow events. It’s going to be cold! Dress appropriately!

Sunrise Location: Expect more snow

Specific Workshop Details:

December 5th Moonset / Sunrise Workshop

  • This workshop will attempt to shoot the setting moon to the N.E. and then spin to the S.W. and shoot a sunrise reflecting off of a distant Pikes Peak.

  • We will shoot from the side of a gravel road near our vehicles.

  • Please bring a coat, gloves, a hat, and maybe a coffee to sip on. A headlamp shouldn’t be necessary.

  • Due to recent snow, expect some mud along our walk/shooting location.
