The hike in was dark, cold, and lonely…..; just the way I like it.

I got to the Mill and was joined by a solo photographer. He and I talked about sunrises and the mill and how we were happy to have beat the dust of the Jeep traffic. The sunrise was fast approaching. We got into position and hoped the clouds would cooperate as our goal was a nice sunrise sunburst image behind the newly lit Mill. This image is the result of that wait.

According to Wikipedia, The Crystal Mill, or the Old Mill is an 1892 wooden powerhouse located on an outcrop above the Crystal River in Crystal, Colorado, United States. It is accessible from Marble, Colorado via 4x4. Although called a mill, it is more correctly denoted as a compressor station, which used a water turbine to drive an air compressor. The compressed air was then used to power other machinery or tools.

All prints, unless hand-delivered, will be shipped 1st class by USPS, with tracked delivery, in an 18"x4"x4" heavyweight mailing tube. Local hand delivery requires prior approval. To obtain approval, contact me via the Contact Us link.
