The Image
Carved through solid granite, the tunnels hugging the steep walls cut by the South Platte River are a sight to behold and to remember. Before the upstream dam and the downstream reservoir were constructed, the narrow dirt road traversing the canyon used to be the old Colorado Midland Railroad route. The first train to take this route did so back in 1887 in what was then known as the Granite Canyon.
On this morning, the air was cool and crisp. A mostly cloudy day kept me on my toes as I worked to adjust for the coming and going Sun. The scene caught my eye as I peered through the approaching tunnel with the next just off in the distance. So much history. So much beauty. It had to be captured!

All prints, unless hand-delivered, will be shipped 1st class by USPS, with certified delivery, in an 18"x4"x4" heavyweight mailing tube. Local hand delivery requires prior approval. To obtain approval, contact me via the Contact Me link.
